Understanding Ag LLC: Vegetable Workshop
Thursday, August 7, 2025 (9:00 AM - 3:30 PM) (EDT)
Description
Join in the fun! This summer, the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) is sponsoring a free, in-depth workshop series alongside farmer-run Understanding Ag, LLC. The field session will be a hands-on experience where the group will be digging into the soil and learning how to evaluate the health and function of soil using the “shovel test” and water infiltration tests. John Ward’s regenerative and organic garden practices and techniques will be showcased and discussed.
There will also be time spent in the pasture, grasslands, and native habitat with discussions on how to create ecosystem diversity, crop and livestock diversity, and stacking small farm enterprises to build a more resilient food system and farm economics.
